Experience
I started my tertiary studies at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University and completed a BPsych (Counselling) degree that led to registration as a Registered Counsellor with the Health Professions Council of South Africa.
After completing training as a Registered Counsellor, I relocated to Cape Town to further my training with specific interest in the treatment and management of addictions and substance use disorders. I completed post graduate training at Stellenbosch University in Addiction Care and started working specifically in both therapeutic and academic settings related to the assessment and treatment of addictions and substance use disorders. During that time, I further completed sub-speciality training in addiction and substance use mental health by obtaining a Master’s Degree in Philosophy of Addiction Mental Health from The University of Cape Town. This allowed for both academic and practical experience in the management of addiction or substance related conditions. I completed my education and training as a Clinical Psychologist at the University of Cape Town.
After completion of my academic training as a Clinical Psychologist I completed my internship as a Clinical Psychologist at Fort England Psychiatric Hospital (Grahamstown, Eastern Cape). Here I gained experience in working with general psychiatric conditions in both inpatient and on outpatient settings. I completed my Community Service within a Correctional Facility within the South African Department of Corrections.
