Qualifications & Experience

“Through the experience of passion in every form in his own body, he would reap richer stores of knowledge than textbooks a foot thick could give him, and he will know how to doctor the sick with a real knowledge of the human soul.”

I currently hold professional registration as a Clinical Psychologist with:

  • Candidate in training for Psychoanalytical Psychotherapy at
The South African Psychoanalytical Initiative (SAPI)
  • The Health Professions of South Africa (HPCSA)
  • The Board of Health Care Funders (BHF)

Embarking on my tertiary studies at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University I pursued and successfully obtained a BPsych (Counselling) degree, that propelled me into the realm of professional counselling.  After completing studies at Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, I relocated to Cape Town where I worked and predominantly gained experience in psychiatric settings and within academia.

I successfully completed my Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology at The University of Cape Town and my internship as a Clinical Psychologist at Fort England Psychiatric Hospital in Grahamstown.  During both my training and internship years I was exposed and gained experience by providing clinical assessment, diagnosis and treatment to a wide range of mental health conditions.  I completed my Community Service as a Clinical Psychologist in a Correctional Facility within The South African Department of Correctional Services.

Before completing my studies and training as a Clinical Psychologist, I completed focused postgraduate training in addictions and substance use behaviours.  I furthered my professional development in addictions and substance use related mental health at both The University of Stellenbosch and at The University of Cape Town. Here, I dedicated myself to furthering my knowledge and honing my skills, focusing specifically on the intricate treatment and management of addictions and substance use conditions.  This additional training not only enriched my understanding of the complexities surrounding addiction and substance use behaviour but also equipped me to address the unique challenges associated with this field.

My Qualifications:

  • BPsych (Counselling)
  • PG Dip (Addiction Care)
  • MPhil (Addiction Mental Health)
  • MA (Clinical Psychology)
