My Approach
I believe that each person is unique and that several areas of one’s life contributes to one’s current or ongoing experiences. My psychotherapeutic style is predominantly rooted within Psychodynamic Therapy and aims to provide each person with a safe and trusting environment to freely explore their experiences towards holistic well-being.
I generally work on a medium to long-term basis with my clients. However, I can also offer shorter-term therapies.
The first consultation usually involves a comprehensive intake of your personal history and exploring your reason(s) for seeking psychological services – whereafter future treatment is discussed.
Generally, follow-up appointments are scheduled for once a week and may later be scheduled with longer intervals between follow-up sessions, e.g. Once every two weeks or once a month, etc.
However, certain difficulties and clinical disorders may respond better to other types of psychotherapy. Being trained in different treatment modalities allows me to treat a wide range of issues. The treatment modality will depend on my assessment and the needs of the client.
I am trained and experienced to work in both inpatient and outpatient settings and to provide assessment and treatment for a wide variety of clinical / psychiatric disorders, such as, but not limited to, anxiety and stress, depression and other mood-related difficulties, eating disorders, psychosis, and have a particular interest in the treatment of substance use disorders / addictions and dual diagnoses.
